Brewing with wood
When excitement gives way to anxiety

Transcript
Paul walks up to Max with a bundle of wood.
Paul: I got some wood for brew day.
Max: Cool idea!
That's what I love about home brewing: As soon as you add one new kind of ingredient, it turns into a whole cornucopia of subtle varieties of that ingredient.
Wood chips? Smoke? But which wood to smoke with? Or burn something other than wood? Peat? Books? Witches?
What is on our wood bill? Only local, aged, non-treated, organic, free range, seasonal wood, right?
Paul: Err, I just forgot to buy gas and want to fire the kettle with it.
Max: Aaah! What kind of matches can we safely use? Sulfur! Will using a lighter ruin the beer?
